about me

 

I'm the author of the plays The EvildoersStunning3C, Elective Affinities and Marie Antoinette. My plays have been produced all over, including at Lincoln Center, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Steppenwolf and Soho Rep. 

My writing has been featured or profiled in The Guardian, the New York Times, the New York Review of Books, the Los Angeles Review of Books, LitHub, Electric Literature, American Theatre, BOMB, and The Rumpus. 

 

Stereophonic will premiere at Playwrights Horizons in the Fall of 2023, with music by Will Butler (from Arcade Fire). The Stumble, recently excerpted in The Paris Review, is a commission from Lincoln Center Theatre. My two-part play The Blind King (co-written with Donald Seligman) was workshopped at the Sundance Theatre Lab in 2019 and is currently in development at The Public Theatre. Together with Lila Neugebauer, I am developing a musical based on the life of Brian Wilson for Universal.

 

I've also written a memoir entitled Lot Six which was recently published by HarperCollins. 

 

I'm the author of two play collections: Stunning and Other Plays and 1789/1978 (both from TCG.) A recipient of a Whiting Writers' Award, the Steinberg Playwright Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, I live in New York City.
