I'm the author of the plays The Evildoers, Stunning, 

3C, Elective Affinities, Marie Antoinette and 

Stereophonic. My plays have been produced all over, including at Lincoln Center, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Steppenwolf,  Soho Rep and Broadway.

My writing has been featured or profiled in The Guardian, the New York Times, the New York Review of Books, the Los Angeles Review of Books, LitHub, Electric Literature, American Theatre, BOMB, and The Rumpus. 

 

Stereophonic premiered at Playwrights Horizons in October 2023, with music by Will Butler (from Arcade Fire) and is currently running at the Golden Theater on Broadway.  The production was nominated for 7 Lortel Awards including Best Play. The Stumble, recently excerpted in The Paris Review, is a commission from Lincoln Center Theatre. The Blind King (Parts I and II) was workshopped at the Sundance Theatre Lab and is currently in development at The Public. Together with Lila Neugebauer I am developing a musical based on the life of Brian Wilson for Universal.

 

I've also written a memoir entitled Lot Six which was published by HarperCollins. 

 

I'm the author of two play collections: Stunning and Other Plays and 1789/1978 (both from TCG.) A recipient of a Whiting Writers' Award, the Steinberg Playwright Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, I live in New York City.
