I write plays, books, TV and films
I'm the author of the plays The Evildoers, Stunning, 3C and Marie Antoinette. My plays have been produced all over, including at Lincoln Center, the Royal Shakespeare Company, Steppenwolf and Soho Rep.
My writing has been featured or profiled in The Guardian, the New York Times, the New York Review of Books, the Los Angeles Review of Books, LitHub, Electric Literature, American Theatre, BOMB, and The Rumpus.
My newest play, Stereophonic, will premiere on Broadway in 2021, with music by Will Butler (from Arcade Fire). The Stumble, excerpted in the current issue of The Paris Review, is in development with Lincoln Center Theatre.
I've also written a memoir entitled Lot Six which was recently published by HarperCollins.
Upcoming: a film adaptation of the acclaimed memoir When Skateboards Will Be Free for director Mélanie Laurent, and a new musical based on Brian Wilson's creation of the SMILE album for Universal.
I'm the author of two play collections: Stunning and Other Plays and 1789/1978 (both from TCG.) A recipient of a Whiting Writers' Award, the Steinberg Playwright Award, and a Guggenheim Fellowship, I live in New York City.
